Walk through the labyrinth of crammed bookshelves, chandeliers and browsing bibliophiles to the winding wooden staircase of Shakespeare and Company Bookstore.
Books of all shapes and sizes line the tiny staircase that leads you with each creaking step to the second floor library.
As you reach the top, hear the scatch of pens on paper, the sighs and laughter of writers in motion, feel the symbiotic energy of the group writing in unison, and relax in the knowledge that this is home for the next two hours. You are safe in this environment to access your creativity hone your craft.
“OK everybody,” says Anna, a young woman who sits poised in the corner of the room, “Look back over your lists of important personal discoveries. Choose one that calls out to you and write for another ten minutes. Do not censor yourself in any way but simply keep the pen moving. Be open to revelation and surprise.”
